Alaska Trip Photos

Hey, folks. Here are a few photos from the startling trip Julie and I took with her family to Alaska last summer. The beauty and scale of Alaska is hard to describe–awesome, stunning, extraordinary. The bottom line is Alaska takes your breath away. (And how lucky am I to be part of a family that takes trips to Alaska together!) Here’s a lucky shot I captured of Mt. Denali pushing its way through the clouds for a pretty rare appearance. The glaciers were so powerful–and what a view from the cruise ship we were on (a first...

Photography Fun

One part of my photography fun the last few years has been heading out at night with my friend and fellow photographer, Phil Ward, to capture shots around the Twin Cities. Phil is a chef (he and wife, Karen, run Black Cat Natural Foods and during the summer every Saturday are selling their yummy food at the Mill City Farmers’ Market, of which they are a founding vendor), as well as a limo driver. And while driving he seeks out the best locations around the cities, places we can take powerful photos. He’s a master at finding spots,...

Portrait of Mom on Christmas Day 2017

I love this photo because of the look captured on my Mom’s face–serene, intense and proud with a hint of sadness. Mom and my step-dad, Bud, and I ventured to Old St. Pat’s Church on the near westside of Chicago for Christmas morning mass, to listen to Nicole sing. Nicole is my god-daughter, Mom’s oldest grandchild–my sister Katie’s first-born. And Nicole is a gifted musician with a beautiful voice–Nicole is beautiful through and through. Half-way through mass I turned my Sony A7R2 camera (fitted with...

A Tribute to my Mom on her 80th …

Posted by on Apr 27, 2015 in MSM Blog, Videos | Comments Off on A Tribute to my Mom on her 80th …

My wonderful Mom, Sheila Clements Murray, turned 80 last December and so on the day after Thanksgiving last year, 10 of Mom’s 13 Clements-Tuma-Harper grandkids gathered in my brother, Mike’s home in Chicago and we all made a funny and touching video to celebrate Mom (and grandma)–and two of the three others sent in video clips that I was able to include. My sister, Katie, had the great idea to “re-create” a number of “scenes” from Mom’s life–scenes that were significant or just plain funny....

A New Photography Page on MSM website–Clem’s Clicks!

Hey, folks. I just added a new page to my Moving Stories Media website, one for my photography that I’m calling “Clem’s Clicks.” My plan is to put my photos, with captions and written notes and explanations, as frequently as I can. My first “gallery” is up on the page–a group of photos from a trip to Toronto to see my niece, Annie Tuma (photo above at her graduation ceremony), graduate from her acting conservatory in Toronto, the George Brown School. The page is listed in the Menu on the MSM front...

Atomos Shogun Review/Dad’s Work as Civil Rights Reporter

Here's a review of the terrific Atomos Shogun external monitor/recorder, as well as a story about my late my Dad's pioneering work as a civil rights reporter in the 1960s in Dayton, Ohio, and Chicago--including a powerful photo of Dad interviewing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
